Born in 1966, Anase Seiji has been creating work at YELLOW (Izumisano City) since 2009.

His dynamic and rhythmic compositions consist of repeated lines and abstract shapes that seem to fill every inch of the surface. Upon closer inspection, many of these marks include the characters “あ” (a), “な” (na), and “せ” (se), derived from his own name.
In Anase’s work, the seemingly simple social act of writing one’s name is not just a symbolic gesture, but transforms into a means for him to assert his presence, ultimately evolving into a vibrant, rhythmic form of expression.

Since around 2017, he has also been creating small sculptural pieces by repeatedly sanding small pieces of wood.
