Arita Kyoko, born in 1990, has been creating work at YELLOW (Izumisano City) since 2009. Known as the life of the workshop, she is full of humor, yet when it comes to making art, she displays remarkable concentration.

The motifs Arita draws include everyday objects and seasonal items, as well as playful, mischievous elements. These are depicted using pointillism, a technique that has become increasingly fine and detailed over the years. Not only are the motifs carefully rendered, but the backgrounds are also thoughtfully color-blocked, and combined with the pointillist color effects, this creates complex, layered works.
Though Arita’s artworks are highly dense thanks to her focus and persistence, they also carry a warmth and humor that seem to reflect her personality.
