Born in 1994. As if the act of drawing is a therapy for her mind, Kikuchi Sayaka repeatedly draws the same motif over an entire sheet of paper with colored pencils as part of her daily routine. For her larger artworks, she attends an art club twice a month which last about two hours each session, and works on them there.

Her motifs range from familiar things, such as flowers, leaves and birds to various kinds of fish and mushrooms she finds in picture books. Furthermore, she has been interested in the Maasai people since around 2017 and has also drawn native costumes of the world since around 2018.

The various drawings Kikuchi creates are arranged to fill the entire page—side by side, nestled closely together, and at times overlapping. The vividly colored motifs, rendered in colored pencil, seem to resonate with one another, almost overflowing from the surface.
